Unkrich went to Twitter to share a letter previously sent to his coworkers marking Feb. 15 as his last day at the studio.

Pixar’s Chief Creative Officer, Pete Doctor, recalled Unkrich joining the animation studio when the first Toy Story was in production. Doctor said, " he had a profound effect on all Pixar films since.”

He contributed to 1998’s A Bug’s Life and co-directed Toy Story 2, Monster’s Inc., and Finding Nemo before directing Toy Story 3. Unkrich also assisted in writing the upcoming Toy Story 4.

We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.
